Pumpkin Date Torte   
        
Mix and set aside:             
½ c chopped dates     
½ c walnuts    
2 T flour       
        
Melt:   
¼ c margarine  
        
Blend and remove from heat: 1 c brown sugar       
        
Stir in:
2/3 c cooked pumpkin
1 t vanilla      
        
Beat In:        
2 eggs, one at a time
        
Sift:   
½ c flour       
½ t baking powder     
½ t cinnamon   
½ t ginger      
¼ t soda        
        
Add to pumpkin mixture, mixing well.         
Stir in floured dates and nuts.       
Pour into greased 9" square pan.     
        
Bake 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.     
Serve warm with coolwhip.
